[At some point, he gave up.

First there was Happy unable to get him so Tony kind of just threw his hands in the air and said it "screw this limo service, I'm walking. Versace can lick my heels." Though of course that's pretty much when the rain started to fall... and the sidewalks then begin to clear.

Just his luck.

So if at all possible, he kind of just gives up a little bit more.

He runs a hand through his hair and watches everything grow damp and... just keeps on walking through the now-deserted street, watching his clothes continue to get soaked.

... well, he's just going to walk a little faster, he supposes.]

[He'd been absent for quite a few hours setting up a few fail-safe things on the off chance that the Kree decide they'd take an interest in the world that spawned the Tesseract (or held onto it just a tad bit too long), and he is rather relaxed and tired when he returns.

So he doesn't notice anything off about the fact that there is a plateful of brownies sitting rather appetizingly on the table.

Don't mind him if he does take one and eat it, seated at the table and relaxing thoroughly now that he's home.

This cannot end well.]

[Okay so maybe he should've listened when JARVIS said that sustained submersion in Arctic waters was a bad idea. At least now Tony will feel slightly guilty if he makes another Capsicle joke ever again.

Either way, here he is now completely curled up in the middle of a king sized bed in one of the random rooms inside the Malibu house. Not the master bedroom- no, that'd be too simple and easy for Loki to find him. Can't worry the god when this could just be something that he sleeps off. He's told JARVIS to keep it on the hush-hush for now since it was just the beginnings of a cold.

Right?]

[Tony Stark doesn't have children.

But maybe there's someone following him a little too closely with all his work. Even with all his Avenger matters to take care of, there's occasionally a little freak dressed in red and blue going out of his way to try to help. Then there's the kid who sometimes works for Stark Industries and is more than eager to help please the big boss.

This is the kid that's following Tony into his Malibu beach house now.]

But Mr. Stark-

No, Parker. You're not going to convince me to let you drive one of my cars just so you can go on a date.

[At least pretend that Tony doesn't look like the disgruntled father right now.]

[So maybe Tony found it a little bit too much fun to mess with Steve.

He couldn't really help it though. Not when Steve made it so easy, with the way that he reacted with the embarrassed flush of a 1940's boy. Then there was the fact that he made for a fantastic housewife, cooking enough to feed a small army (as he sometimes would have to when all the Avengers assembled for a breakfast cooked by Chef Rogers) and also sometimes getting so irritated with Tony's messes that he would clean them himself. With a broom. Even though Tony has customized vacuums that could practically run themselves.

Don't even mention the barbecue because Tony would just mention how Cap's apron should've said 'Kiss the Cook'.

As a result there was an occasional teasing remark, like when New York legalized gay marriage and Tony gave a meaningful look to Steve right across the table saying, "It's finally our time, Cap."

Or asking Steve to just up and marry him that one time when Thor was a baby.

So now he's just joking as he's walking into the living room, cell phone in hand as he gives his perhaps too affectionate farewell-]

Okay star-spangled shmoopsie poo, I'll be counting the hours until our nuptials.

Also yeah okay, I guess I'll be at HQ in a few hours.

[and he hangs up with a satisfied little grin on his face because he only heard the beginning of the sputtering from the other end, but it was still enough for him]

[Tony wasn't a big reader when he was a child- except that might be a lie. He was a big reader of textbooks mostly, lots of information. This was just so that maybe he could impress people with his knowledge and then it occurred to him that sometimes people didn't want to have physics spewed at them-

So one day he asked a librarian what would be simultaneously good for fictional reading as well as mentally stimulating and a little bit above his reading level (and he meant double his reading level) and then went back home with a book of Norse myths. He then bought the book for apparently a few times over what it was worth.

It's lying around somewhere in the manor now, mostly forgotten and gathering dust. But he brought it along with him because suddenly, after encountering Thor, it was suddenly very potent.

Opening up and reading all his annotations (Thor = idiot showing up on multiple pages) he realized that it might have to be hidden away to avoid a thrashing from his now-teammate. Of course he did look back on a few of his more favored myths...

He didn't admit to himself that the majority of them involved a certain Liesmith.

So it's an average day at the Malibu house, Tony rummaging through his bookcase because he needs to find something and... carelessly knocking books off the shelves in order to find what he needs. He's gone as quick as he came, something like a tornado, and doesn't seem to notice that the mythology book from his childhood is laying at the top of the heap.]

[California took some getting used to.

Loki found it bearable (most of the time), interesting (generally), and new (so far), so he didn't have many complaints to make as he took in their current place of residence.

Tony, at least, seemed far more at home here. So Loki didn't see a problem with it.

And then they went out for a day. The already extremely hot day is only made all the hotter by the press of people, the cars passing by and the towering buildings around them. Certainly as a Frost Giant the heat is a bother and sometimes can harm, but Loki has never had that problem before, simply because of his Aesir form.

But he does not like the heat, and he avoids it, and right now he is right in the middle of some of the hottest weather he has ever experienced (Asgard was always quite temperate and pleasant), and it turns out he is not reacting well to it at all.

So he is grumpy, even as a headache (do gods get headaches...? Apparently overheated Frost Giants do--) begins to form behind his eyes, and he follows Tony with a flat, tight expression.]

[Tony was always the most at home at charity events of all the Avengers-

Even the ones that let the highest bidder take him out for a night.

Admittedly this was something that they didn't do often exactly. No, he was pretty sure Cap would have a heart attack if they did. It was only about the second time around for their little publicity stunts. As per usual, Pepper would insist on Tony being nice and helping Jane secure Thor each time. Natasha always mysteriously disappeared when Clint went up, only for him to be purchased by a mysterious redhead whose voice no one could truly pinpoint. Bruce had just gone up and a little kid won the heart of everyone when he convinced his daddy to pay for Bruce so he could have the "biggest and most awesome playdate ever".

Yeah, that sounded harmless enough. But Tony expected that he'd be chaperoning that later when the time came-

So it was left to him and Steve left because they always ended up being the most sought after- except Tony had figured out a system. He was never fond of going out to dinner with a total stranger and he knew he would always do more for charity than anyone else. As a result, he had a system.

A number of Stark girls were set in the crowd - lovely, intelligent, and most of all gorgeous young women who attended to Tony's every need and whim. This apparently included helping to generate a facade that let him spend up to as much as Pepper would let him risk just so he could get out of a date that he didn't want to go on.

So he stepped on stage and was more than pleased when the starting bid was 20,000 dollars.

Not even a proper fraction of what he was worth, but it was a good start.]

[He spoke with Steve and he spoke with Pepper- they both chewed him out and told him that he was wrong.

But alas, Tony Stark was not a total dumbass or douchebag unlike what the media so often liked to say. He knew he did wrong here- the fact that it was still weighing on his heart even now just emphasized how bad it was.

So he went home and watched the recording of the night before, observed as he sleepily leaned on Loki and was brought to bed and essentially tucked in by the god- and then he uttered those tell-tale words without even thinking twice about it. It was missing from his memory- but then again everything after his head hitting the pillow was a blur of exhaustion.

It's growing late but Tony can't sleep just yet- not now.

Loki's not home yet.]

[It's odd, because he woke up weaker than usual.

To be honest, it might've been because he's been so busy with everything - making robots, getting Loki familiar with a bluetooth, and hacking into SHIELD a bit more - but he didn't think much of it. At least it was a day where he told Pepper not to bother him with anything because he was working in the garage.

The new robots that would act sort of like Dum-E and Butterfingers except in the Tower were almost done. Their programs had been finished forever ago and assembly was just wrapping up now since all experiments and tests were going well enough. But for some reason he started to feel short of breath suddenly.

It's then that he thinks perhaps he's entitled to a bit of a nap, stumbles into an elevator - why are his limbs so heavy? - and presses the button for the top floor.

He barely makes it out of the elevator, blinking and dizzy, and fumbles his way through the center living area-

Before collapsing onto the floor, chest heaving as a sweat begins to overtake him.

JARVIS switches on, alerting Tony that seven o'clock is fast approaching, just as the light of the arc reactor on Tony's chest begins to flicker weakly, wavering between on and off.]

[...he's bored.

And amidst his plotting, a bored Norse god is no good.

Lost as he is. Humanized as he is.

It's daytime now, and he paces, able to leave his room but temporarily alone. But he knows Tony has security measures.

He knows it. He doesn't try anything rash. But he does inspect the technology--

And then he makes faces at one of the cameras.

[OKAY YES HE'S EXCITED.

Almost as excited as he would be to get tempura. That's kind of how excited he is.

So he kind of runs out as soon as he's parked the car and even goes around the other side to open the door for Mitsunari with a big grin.]

[So he's doing more stupid things today, but you know what. That's honestly not that odd for him.

Apparently they forgot to check the forecast this morning when they decided to go out and while it was perfectly fine when they went out together for Mitsunari's day off, they're not exactly so lucky now that they're on their way out and

It's raining. Cats and dogs and sheep.

... uh-oh.

[Kanetsugu and Mitsunari were undoubtedly excellent friends.

Which was why they do what all excellent friends do and often taunted each other or made bets with each other with embarrassing consequences for the loser.

The thing was, Ieyasu added an interesting extra dynamic to this.

Because Mitsunari already had an amazing amount of faith in his boyfriend--and he would easily bet on just about anything that was fair.

And Ieyasu never failed to deliver.

"He won't call every night" but he did
"He won't bring you flowers" but he did

Everything, no matter what, Ieyasu managed to accomplish without a word from Mitsunari. And one day when he found himself off work early, he wandered home and Kanetsugu smirked and--

"I bet you Ieyasu won't change his plans for you."

To be honest, it left a pit in his stomach, and he stopped and stared. That wasn't...that wasn't a fair thing to ask of Ieyasu, and Mitsunari knew it.

...But he...

He wanted to know. So he accepted the bet--because he had that much faith in Ieyasu.

And then he called.]
